to my lost keys
dear keys,
how i have neglected you. i am so sorry. you must feel taken for granted and abandoned. you help me every day to get me in to my car, and in to my home, and your thanks is to be lost with no hope of being found. you have a lovely hood key chain, you have my shaw's card which supplies me with valuable discounts. and you have been lost. i looked everywhere, but i could not find you. i've left you all alone, in the house, probably weeping. thinking we'll never be together again. i want you to know that i am thinking about you, and where you might be.
your ever loving owner, Amy

i was helping mr. confederate bandana and they'll get my gun when they pry it from my cold dead hand t shirt. he was leaving after giving me a very icky smile. as he was leaving one of the nicest boys ever was coming in (actually they're brothers and they're very sweet and funny and they're my favorite customers) and he caught sight of mr. c b who he was holding the door for and had the best reaction ever. he simultaneously dodged out of the guys way while having a completely appaulled expression, which thankfully mr. c b didn't see. then the nice boy told me about how he's learning a new word a day and was trying to use them all and said he want to "extricate" money from his account to spend at borders. if that did it for me he'd be my boyfriend.

oh and i've added a link. to get your war on. if it's good enough for alison bechdel, it's good enough for me. also there's a new dtwof if anyone's interested.
also i must note, which i forgot earlier, that not even amy mas would taste the lobster ice cream. they were appaulled. but then sarah's the one who would eat stuff for money, not amy. some one should try the lobster ice cream some time. someone who eats meat, or atleast fish friends.

ok so, i've been distracted from the water situation by having fun and trying to make my friends comfortable. but i'm getting more and more pissed off this morning about the lack of water at my house. mostly because the landlords wife didn't seem to think it was a big deal, and because i have gotten no information since saturday. i say if you can get a plumber to come out on a weekend in february, you can get a plumber on a weekend in june. but since she probably had a shower this morning and flushed her toilet with no problem she should be starting out less cranky than me. i wonder if my neighbors have been calling alot or something to have made her so defensive. in any case, it is not my fault that the pump broke, it is their responsibility to provide water, electricity, et c. to their tenants. there better be a rent reduction for this month, there just better.
they have come and gone. we did everything a body can do in bar harbor without spending too much money. the water was out all weekend, and still is. we missed thunderhole thundering twice, we went to a brewery where amy bought beer. we ate at 2 cats twice, and fed amy real lobster. i discovered that my answering machine really is dead. we all discovered that goodbye lenin is an awesome movie and everyone should go see it (more on how cool it is to not be in a soviet block later). we showered at coa and everyone got to meet my landlord. amy and kirsten decided that everyone at coa is bi, but then that's not surprising. and tonight we go to harry potter.

note to amy mas if indeed you are coming...It is cold here. pack warm clothes, and umbrellas. it is rainy like britain here, rainy like seattle, cold like, well cold like maine. you are warned.
ok, so now that i have warned amy of the cold, and i can tell the rest of you that it is COLD here man. it has to be the coming of the next ice age, there's no other explanation. folks are still wearing their winter coats, it's wild.
there is a nice boy from alabama here learning how to lobster (with his brother who is a local, it's very confusing) and he doesn't believe us that this is unusual. he thinks we're crazy, and he's very cold.

and i am back from home. I had a good time. i did alot of laundry, i got chairs for my dinner table, curtains, et cetera. my dad made yummy food, my mom complained about her new furniture. all was right with the world.
my niece is very small, and very strong. she was very wriggley for 7 weeks. she's also very fat, she's the fattest baby ever. so cute.
i saw a store called "jazzercise" right next to a restaurant called "low-carb heaven", there are 2 new russian food markets in my hometown, and i saw a girl i went to highschool with working in target.
it seems like i did more this weekend than i can think to write about. i did notice how much better radio is in boston than here, or maryland.

with the ever increasing reports of heat from the south i am quite glad that it was 46 degrees all day.
and also, the poor souls doing construction are actually trying to connect water pipes almost 30 feet below the road and have been digging down to them with buckets and shovels since 6 pm yesterday. yikes man, yikes.

kitty wasn't all that happy to have me home yesterday. i thought she'd be more excited. but maybe just two days a week is a pattern she likes. it seems that she really does just sleep all day. i entertained myself by rearranging the kitchen furniture again, hanging pictures, and arranging all of my bills by month. sarah, my dear, do you have any of your wave prints that you could part with? i have sort of a wave print theme going on. you'll see.
it's sort of sad that i can't watch trading spaces all day now that i have house. although i think it's probably in my best interest not to spend all my time recovering pillows. i have to get to work signing up for my health insurance. i'll let you know how it goes..

gee mare, i didn't know you were so interested to read about my exciting life. i've been busy this morning. not really busy, but busy enough to have not blogged yet. it's a rainy awful day. but we don't have cicadas so i think there's no reason to complain. one of the big spiders has re-asserted it's dominance in my bathroom. i watch him carefully for sudden movements. you know, just in case. but i have decided that perhaps mr.spider will eat the moths that may eat my clothes and maybe a spider guardian is better than cedar blocks.
in other news i got rid of all of my recycling this weekend. i was beginning to expect a milk jug monster to be drinking a cup of tea one morning when i woke up and so i took it all to the transfer station. i also got $5 in 5 cent returnables, so you can imagine the scope and the possible dangers of a can and bottle monster sitting and chatting with the milk jub monster. i imagine them criticizing my decor and cooking more spirited and original vegetarian dishes than i ever could.
so many issues there...

and then i went to 8 hours of teller training. i very much missed blogging all day. i feel all empty inside. but i got a fabulous table and some cooking implements which are my favorite things to buy.
the training actually wasn't so bad. it was essentially parroting back to the lecturer and eating candy. and getting paid for the miles and the hours. maybe i'll even take the next classes and get certified to make even more money. but that sounds of someone who has devoted herself to banking...which just is not me. not really. all in all it was not a bad day out.
i saw a desk and some other bits of furniture to think about, but no chairs. they had wicked cheap rollaway beds at mardens, if anyone were coming here and wanted a bed to sleep on. err, cough, err. anyone?

the interview went off just fine. they don't pay as much as i thought they did, so i have to decide how much self respect i have versus the need for cash. hopefully the gallery people will get in touch soon. atleast that would be interesting.
my mom has planned my memorial day weekend for me, and it involves going home and then hanging out with her in portland. only she thinks that memorial day is next weekend, and really it's two weekends away. i wonder how i'm going to explain it to her.
i've been collecting the cute animal pictures from my days of ireland calendar. and then yesterday one of the high-ups inthe bank asked if i like horses. and since i hardly ever think of horses, because i'm not 12, i said no. hence he pointed at my virtul farm and said "what about those?". well, how do you explain to a bank high up that doesn't know your name that you just thought the sheep was funny, and then he needed a friend so you put up the goat, and then you felt bad about throwing away the horse because his kindred got honoured positions taped to the counter. so you just say "uhh, i like animals" in a lame sort of way. and then any respect or intellectual level that may have been attained or even hoped to have been attained between you and the higher ups is dashed. all because of the stupid horses.

hood news update:
apparently prom went off much better than drag ball. they had performances, probably to make up for drag ball sucking so hard.
and per jj my name, and probably sarah's, was mentioned. they actually realized how much work it was what we did and were impressed that we pulled it off so many times. yay for us. if my mom knew i spend half my education arranging dj's and drag queens and rainbow garland for queer functions, well she'd never believe it.
4 dragballs, 2 proms, the coffee houses, the meetings, the nights out, 4 days of silence, 4 coming out days. remember sulking around campus with chalk and posters and freezing our fingers off sarah? someone actually realized how much work all that was. a little late perhaps. never mind the books and the shopping and the painting and moving and having to talk to helena. makes me wonder how any school work ever got done.

i want to change my blog again...mostly because jj's looks so cool. but it took so long to find the perfect pinks. we all know how i love the pink...
it is my wisdom tooth and not a shard of bone working it's way out of my skull. well, i guess that is what teeth are but you get my meaning. mr. dentist said i do not have to have it removed unless it starts to cause pressure or pain. neither of which i have had. and now i am paranoid that i will think i'm feeling pressure or pain or i will neglect said pressure or pain because i'll think i'm imagining it. so essentially i'm going to drive myself crazy.
the dentist said he liked to keep in the wisdom teeth incase you ever need an extra molar. in case of emergencies. he was really very funny and i liked him alot. i think i need to look at what my dental insurance covers...it covered my cleaning, actually 2 a year. but it does not cover the sealants i have to get this summer. it would cover 80% of my fillings if they were cavities. we can only hope.

just when i get used to the old blogger they change it. not that it isn't very cool. it is. it's just the constant change screwing with me. i'm preparing to go to the dentist. to hear about my wisdom tooth, which isn't supposed to be there. i'm trying to decide if i need to keep my dental insurance...the rates are going up and this is the first time i've used it. course if i cancel i'll get a frisbee to the teeth this summer and have to pay through the nose or eat through a straw. better to pay more, yes?
this weekend we rented gosford park, which i need to watch atleast 3 more times to figure out completely. i rearranged my furniture again, because frankly i like to. it makes me happy.
i didn't actually talk to my mom on mothers day, although i left a message. they were never there. as a daughter i am now somewhere below primordial scum.

i just sent out my mothers day cards, uhm a bit late. i bought them ages ago, bad daughter, bad. i did get a call back from one of the applications i sent out. let's see what they offer me. there's also a new art gallery hiring. that would be very fun. i'm wearing my maori spiral today in the spirit of art, and err knowledge.
i made progress in the sharing a bed with kitty last night. i used love-a-lot bear and pony as kitty decoys on my stomach so kitty had to sleep on my legs. i'm not really sure it's a problem solved, but atleast i didn't breath in fur all night. we're trying to decide if she needs a play buddy. or if she would resent a play buddy. some times when i leave for work she just looks so sad. maybe she and sarah can bond this summer.
i'm so excited to have a sarah. they're such good fun.

i decided yeserday that i can not let the merry season of pocket lining go by ithout making an attempt at extraneous gainful employment. or, i applied for a part time job. actually one of the ones that i think sarah applied for aswell, it had a line "are you applying with a friend" but i put no. i didn't want to have unnecessary biased bearing on your application. unless you think it would help? i'm wasn't sure.
i'm having some sort of allergy/head cold problem today. i keep sneezing on the customers and they almost never like it. i have to get some drugs at lunch. my head feels all fuzzy. speaking of fuzzy...kitty insisted on sleeping on my stomach all night. i tried to make it as uncomfortable and jostly as possible but she kept coming back. it has to stop. kitty is going to have to sleep in the living room.

i wanna hold you till i die
till we both break down and cry
i wanna hold you, till the fear in me, subsides
does anyone ever feel that way? or feel enough that way to merit writing a song about it. why why why? and why must they play it on a loop on this station? it's a human rights violation. it's just wrong.
and incidentally some 13 year old kid charred daddy bush' yacht and they're debating the punishment. if maine were texas he'd be hanging by now.

so yesterday i washed every article of clothing in my house, and went grocery shopping,, all in an hour and a half. my express purpose for grocery shopping was to pick up kitty toasting bread. i did pick up some texas toast and i was so full of joy for the kitties to come as i walked to the line, and paid for my groceries. and then, the bagger guy manhandled my kitty bread. downright squished it. he is also the one who manhandles my produce but is not guilty of squeezing my cookie bag. as we can all see, i get very attached to my groceries and i don't like to see them violated. but back to the kitty bread. i did give the bagger a reproachful look, but i don't think he noticed. bastard. on the upside, i made kitties this morning and they are the best kitties so far. i did take pictures, and i will upload tonight. i also took a picture of the outside of the toaster because it makes us all so happy when we see it in the kitchen. it brightens our day. it's so much more than just a toaster.
in other news, my lavender pot has sprouted a new shoot. it's the beginning of something beautiful. i should have five sprouts by september.

i stumbled on a story today about how much walmart fucks it's employees. you know all those commercials about how great it is to work for walmart. why do you think they need commercials? if it was really great to work there, every one would know already. we wouldn't need them to tell us, we'd all be smiling with those blue vests on. so what is it they're up to now, filling in a marsh so they can build the third walmart in my town? or your town? well yeah. ofcourse they are doing that. but more importantly they're doing this .
in other great news, Bush visited wells for his earth day celebrations. he believes that his administration has put through the most important environmental legislation, ever. why, because some reports are showing that our resources are cleaner than they have been in twenty years. now it's important that we remember to give bush credit for thirty years of EPA Legislation but not to blame him for the economy because that was all clinton's fault. i love how politics work, don't you? if you're the president, you get to decide all kinds of cool stuff, like what to bomb next, who to invite to your publicly funded campaign stops, what is and is not logic. it would be great fun.
and since when do doctors get to decide who to treat. even in michigan. those tricky catholics. i can say that as my mom was a nun and she hates them too. well she would never say she hated someone, or something, but she strongly disagrees with their doctrine. she has no respect for the organization. she'll have even less when she hears about this.

some out of stater is buying up all the good restaurants. miguels has a completely new menu for twice the price, and got knows what he'll do to anthony's. not that we could ever have afforded to eat there. he's got his eye on one more place, but he won't say where. there are only three restaurants in town that we frequent...let it not be one of them. it would be too cruel.
Below is the email of a friend's friend. these particular folks were readying to come home when they were contracted out to Halliburton to guard convoys. 1. can anyone explain why the military is guarding halliburton convoys? and 2. why does our military insist on lying to their people? telling them they're coming home and then changing their mind...grrr.
"My company, the 372nd Military Police Company has been extended for possibly over 120 days past our current year deployment, suffice to say, we are all ready to come home. To give you our status, we are at 48% our usual number of soldiers, we have no officers, our mission from Bosnia doesn’t count towards our time. So while I was activated during 7 months of post 9/11, Military saying that doesn't count. What I'm asking of everyone is please, write anyone you can think of to push the issue of us coming home, congress, governors, senators, when we go to this new mission, I'm very afraid people will die, it's that dangerous. Thanks for your help everyone."

this morning my house was very cold. the heat is not working. probably because it's out of propane. i should probably figure out how to get more. in the meantime i am hoping the my neighbor downstairs, who does not loot but does sing loudly to mariah carey on her radio, turns up her heat enough to keep hamster and kitty thawed out. i was also hoping for sunshine to keep the apartment warm but it's extremely windy and dreary outside so i guess there isn't much hope for solar heat. kitty slept on my stomach all night, which i guess kept her warm, and hamster was nibbling her food with no apparent problems. does anyone know how you check a propane tank?
i made yummy kitty toast for breakfast, and i learned that my fire alarm is very sensitive. but maybe that's because we were making toast right under the fire alarm. it's hard to be sure. i have to practice with the toast. it's not a perfect hello kitty, but it gets better everytime. when i get a really fab kitty toast i will take a picture and post it. i think maybe i need new bread, that isn't frozen. i think practicing with materials is part of the process.
in addition to burning my clothes and running out of heat, i also tried to cut my finger off yesterday. i'm not really sure how i did it, or what i cut it on, but i sort of cut the skin off of my knuckle. it was really gross, and today it hurts quite alot even though i put a bandaid on it. it probably only hurts because i couldn't find my sponge bob bandaids. if i had spongebob on my finger i could rest easy. sigh...

patriots day is celebrating the anniversary of paul revere's ride. and william dawes. wasn't there some one else too. obviously i haven't researched it, it's just what mary said at work. it's only celebrated in massachusetts (obviously) and maine (because maine used to be massachusetts). so that's why i have no patriots day memories. NH doesn't give a shit about other states patriots, even if they did start the revolutionary war. i think we had a christa mcaulliffe day. i can't think of any other famous NH folk except daniel webster, oh and franklin pierce. maybe i can remember...
April 17, 2004
sarah, when you were little did you get patriots day off from school? i can't remember. mary was riotting because the bank does not count it as a holiday anymore. she says it's a new england holiday, ie the patriots. should i have known that do you think? also did you get MLK day off. i know we didn't have that holiday. NH and one other state out west didn't do it. i don't know why, but it's very new hampshire. maybe it had something to do with snow days. maybe they traded with patriots day.
we also had winter break and spring break, which they don't even do in maine. in maine folks just go south for a few weeks in february so they can see the sun again. it's amazing the difference without daylight savings. I had gotten used to driving home at 4 in the dark with the coyotes howling but now it's not dark until almost 7. talk about progress. and thankfully you can't hear the coyotes at the new house, it's not as close to acadia and i don't think they wander too far from the park. i like it here for it's remoteness but the coyotes in my driveway freaked me out.

and also i've seen my car drive by three times today. thrice. in the same color and one with NH plates. its weird.

so they're trying to reinstitute the draft. i just can't see america buying that, can anyone else? war is great and all aslong as it's abstract and really far away, but i don't see americans digging sending their sons and daughters off to war because they were drafted. every american under 26 is going to be gay starting in 2005. it'll be butches and queens everywhere. well i guess maybe not every american. i suppose some people would think dead is better than gay. some alreaday do. but anyway, it's interesting how bush doesn't think this war is like vietnam. maybe someone should read him a book and explain what vietnam was. slowly. maybe with some drawings. arghhh.

this is stolen from, oh, every other blog i've ever read, but i believe it could be a good time. i have the faith.
1: Grab a book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4, write down what it says:
"Rebus smiled again. 'Guilty.' "
2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?:
my coin tray, or more specifically, the pennies in my coin tray.
3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?:
oh geez, it was some introspective on christina aguilera. did you know she's from pennsylvania.
4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is:
8:45 Am
5: Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?: 8:25 am. wishful thinking
6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?: the side effects of come drug on the radio
7: When did you last step outside? what were you doing?:
this morning, coming to work. a lovely warm breeze outside too!
8: before you came to this website, what did you look at?: pinky's blog, domestic crisis and healing feet
9: what are you wearing?: oooh, my new tiny fishnet tights, wool skirt, sweater, old glasses.
10: Did you dream last night?:
i don't think so, i don't remember
11: George Bush: a power-crazy nut case, or...
tool
12: Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?:
uhh, that's too weird i don't know. alice, or amelia. note the a names are first to mind
13: Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?:
something old, nathaniel, or jacob. something, like that.
14: Would you ever consider living abroad?:
absolutely. ireland or england, or scotland, or canada or well anywhere really if i had a job and a friend.

"parking stick jousting, isn't that dangerous, aren't those things sharp?"
yes, it was probably dangerous, but didn't sarah and laura look dapper, or dashing even whilst they were jousting. or maybe it was fencing. do you need a horse to joust? i'm pretty sure we didn't have horses, but they might have used shopping carts. sarah, do you remember?
is it reasonable that i lived at hood for four years and didn't fill a photo album? do i hate myself for not taking pictures? errr, yeah.
i also found the pictures from that drag show in gettysburg when amy mas tried to pick up the straight girls. did anyone know at the time that gettysburg is a really conservative college? i had no idea. the only people i knew there were uhh the dykes so i didn't have a rounded impression. i'm so glad we didn't get beat up. remember when one of the ladies asked for family in the crowd and the only voices screaming were ours? should have been a clue. heather my dear, i think you would have enjoyed our sort of tea. mostly we went to drag shows and put on parties. i think it would have grabbed your fancy. life at hood was so much more fun when marianne and parsons were around. that's what made hood worthwhile for me. really smart, fun people who cared about things. i really hope you all didn't feel as ambivalent about us as we did about our freshmen.

it is remarkably summery in town. it was all weekend. all the little lakes and ponds are melted. im almost finished with the epic move. there are only a few things left to pack, and then to clean. fabulously i don't have to go clean tonight. i get to go shopping. actually returning. i've been doing a lot of that lately. the sub-standard toaster, the 4 dollar trash cans, and now the tv. remember how my tv started to turn pink the last weeks of senior year. the tv that was atleast 10 years old, that moved from new hampshire to maryland, and across campus dozen times. the tv that i dropped more than once. well, now the new tv is turning pink. i should have caught on when it made that "poing" noise when i plugged it in. that should have been a clue. but now i get to go buy a new tv, a magnavox atleast. and maybe not so big because that one was sort of scary.
i confirmed with amy the m that i do have guests for june. i am filled with joy. sarah, do you remember lindsay? did you ever meet lindsay? she'll be in town for the summer too. she's a good time. i'm looking forward to the summer ever so much. do you think i should get a produce subscription? how much produce do you think we could eat? we could be my mom and can things.

i just opened accounts for half of jamaica. and now i really want to say things with a jamaican accent because it's so pretty but that would be wrong. it's a good thing i don't have a maine accent because there may have been no communication possible. as it was i think they all thought i was crazy. i have this tiny tendency to talk to myself. and sometimes laugh. oddly the americans this doesn't bother. hmm.

somebody touched my boat while i was gone. my pirate ship was on the complete opposite side of my desk this morning. bastards. touching my boat.
we've been trying to rent lost in translation for weeks now. yesterday we reserved a copy, thinking since it was a tuesday it was a possibility tht one of the two copies would be there. but no. neither copy, vhs nor dvd, was in the store. it's a small town, if they'd given us the address we would have gone to fetch it. but no. we shall never see lost in translation. never.
instead we watched stand by me which annie has never seen. i didn't get to find out what she thought of it because i fell asleep. i do remember her saying that she had to see the body. i had told her you don't get to see the body, but i'd only ever seen the tv version.
mary and i are trying to talk tia into helping clean up the roadsides in the park. she doesn't believe in that sort of thing. cleaning up the environment. bitch. she's here early and i'm not sure why. it is going to be a trying day.

my computer at work kept telling me my website had innapropriate or unsafe material. what i don't get is how this happened between the morning and lunch. nothing changed. stupid technology. i was a little late to the dumb work meeting. i sort of missed the president's speech. whooopsy. but i did get to go shopping. right now i'm eating freschetta pizza off of my antique plates. this morning i had poptarts on an antique plate. my bad eating habits aside, it's really anachronistic to eat such modern food on depression glass. i can't help thinking about it. everytime i eat something i have to decide if this food was available in the 30's. poptarts and freschetta probably not. toast and spaghetti, probably. some things are more tricky, like fake meat taco's. i'm just not sure.
April 05, 2004
so i got my first 4 seasons of keeping up appearances on dvd. this was the much awaited package. it's very exciting. isn't it? i can't wait to get home and start watching them. and they're full screen so i won't be drawn in to measure the periphery of the screen. it's very good for this wintery day.

why it is better to choose economy shipping
i bought something the other day. at half.com. it wasn't actually half the price but it was a good price and i really needed it. but that's not the point. the point is i had a choice of regular or express shipping. i always choose regular shipping. even when i do need something in a hurry, which is rare. i deem things not worthy of coming faster for more money. it's not worth the instant gratification. but when i'm waiting for something how do i hate myself for not getting the quick delivery. i want it now. now now now. i don't want to wait. i don't care about the excitement of anticipation. i want my package NOW. dammit. but it's not here. sigh...
it's raining. and mary says it's supposed to snow tomorrow. it can't. i have too much to do. i have been making the worlds dummest mistakes at work. i think because i'm thinking about moving and all the things i have to do all the time. it would be really bad if i got fired for incompetence just now. but i'd get unemployment. in other words i absolutely have to get things taken care of this weekend.

the old apartment is currently filled with gas. atleast it was last night. we got home in time to rescue mrs. whatsit. the building has not blown up yet, so far as i can tell. good thing i don't smoke, right? mary says that's a condition to break the lease. i think i'll just prorate my rent payment, and maybe if i have to i'll tell her she killed my hamster, although hopefully she didn't.
miss kitty really likes mrs. whatsit. she gets more cat-like everyday. she sits with her furry face plastered to the glass waiting for mrs. whatsit to move. and we thought it was funny when she chased her own tail.
this weekend we spent every cent i had at target. some things are going to have to go back out of guilt. i shall buy cheaper versions at walmart or mardens.
we also had a sort of picnic at schoodic point. it's very beautiful. it's different than mdi with bigger waves and more rocks. we decided sarah will like it and we'll take her there. also i noted on my lease that i can have a roomoate for 200 more dollars. hmm.

kitty was pronounced fine at the vet. she helped me bake cookies and build a table. we were really very busy. kitty was offended by the trailer boys confederate truck. she has high morals about things like that. she wanted to get up in their faces but i decided it would be better to turn off the porch light and double check the deadbolts.
i realized last night that although i have two bathrooms, i only have one medicine cabinet. i was hoping to have two so i could keep dental floss and the like in one, and then really interesting things in the 2nd. people are judged by the contents of their medicine cabinets. it's important. i want fabulous things in my medicine cabinet. like chanel number five and one gorgeous diamond earring. or a rubber chicken foot and hello kitty bandaids. you know, really great stuff.
in other news. i think i have decided that my neighbor is the source of all the smoke and coughing. i think she smokes all day and coughs all night. or even smokes all night and coughs intermittenly. something along those lines. i'm disturbed that i can hear her coughing all the time. i hate to think of how thin the walls are.

hey, remember that time my blog was really dull? uhh yeah, sorry about that. i've been trying to think of like, amusing things, to like, blog about. i'm hoping the kitty will be really funny. and i can get her a mike, and she can do stand up, and pay for her own kibble. but so far she just gets fur everywhere in her insistence to show us how much she loves us. she actually fell over herself last night trying to make annie pet her more.
spring is springing in bar harbor. except for all the snow. the bike guy has 200 bikes to build, and the kayak guy is already almost fully booked with tours. the last three weeks folks were wondering if they would earn their bread this summer but it seems that bar harbor will do ok.
i just saw annie and her mom driving about 6 mph down the street. your guess is as good as mine.
while we were at hood, we heard rumors that icky jennifer was cheating on her girlfriend. if i'd known that i might've made more of an effort to run her over the first and only time we had to see her. rats.

welcome to astra vision. where the only thing i talk about is astra kitty. well, only a brief paragraph. we picked up the kitty last night. there was a very weird lady who kept saying that astra liked her better and she wanted to adopt her but she couldn't because of us. she was weird. kitty meowed for about five minutes but she started purring before we got her home.

so we are indeed leaving today. as soon as mary gets back from break. one of the regulars brought me a book to read today. another janet evanovich. bank customers are a weird and loyal breed.
today some poor soul called from north carolina thinking that we are in london and that we were going to give her 20 million dollars. she wired 4000+ dollars to some foreign country. really folks, really. i'm sure that must have been on law and order at some point. don't people learn anything from tv nowadays.
so i probably won't be blogging whilst i'm gone. have good vacation sarah. feel better all the sick folks. see you all next week!

i bought tools this weekend! we built a cat scratcher and tonight i might build a futon. i should do laundry but i can't afford to, so i'll have to take all of my clothes home tomorrow. soon we'll be on our way to beautiful maryland. we have so much to do before we can leave. annie's car is going in for a check up today. we're getting very excited. yay for car trips.
it's a beautiful day. sun-shiney goodness all over. and dudes walking by in green hats. st. patrick's day isn't until wednesday, right?
oooh ooh ooooh. you know what abounds in frederick, antique shops, junk shops, value city. that means cheap ass junk furniture is mine for the picking. oooh. we can even go to the junk shop on market. i'm hardly contained in my excitement.

so more about the ark. it's really a giant house filled with cats. cats every where. in every corner of the house there was a curled up sleeping kitty. we found them in closets, on bookshelves, having a scuffle on the staff desk. it was an experience. the place is remarkably clean, and they obviously take care of their animals, except that everybody has a cold. what i meant to say in previous post was that sally was not a player. in that she was not interested in playing. atleast with us.
so as i mentioned we spent the whole day shopping and putzing around bangor like idiots searching for target. we found the target, which is exactly behing walmart. it was like christmas, in the "oh my god look at all those cars" way. this was also noted in that we almost ate it by a big suv who's driver had a latte in his hand. i was confused because you don't see idiots driving with coffee in their hands in maine, atleast not in the special starbucks-esq cups. but to our surprise there is a starbucks in the target. it has to be the most northern starbucks in the country. i wonder if there are enough mainers who can identify a tall skinny mochachino, or whatever, to keep them in business. there was nothing we wanted to get at the store so we fought the crowds for nothing. but it was an experience.
however when we went to walmart, it was almost enjoyable because all the people were at target, or the walmart supercenter. they had what i wanted and they were very flexible really. our poor helper guy had to take apart the futon box and stuff each individual piece in to our tiny car, and the manager offered to take it back if it didn't fit. what more could we ask for.

nobody likes me, everybody hates me...
it snowed again last night. not like real snow, just like a dusting, but that was after the rain and the hail. all in one night. very weird. i had a realization last night as i was walking to my car after visiting stone face. here i should make a special note to HEATHER, DO NOT READ FURTHER. now i know people usually see those notes and then automatically have to read on, but i'm telling you, theres no way you want to read on, trust me. i'll make another note when the coast is clear...
ok so now that i don't have to worry about making heather throw up, i had the weirdest hood memory. remember how whenever it rained there would be thousands of worms everywhere. that doesn't happen here. i'm not really sure why. i was walking in the rain accross dirt and i had this thought, eww don't step on the worms. but there weren't any. isn't that weird. why would i be worrying about non-existant worms? i just thought that was so random i had to blog about it.
HEATHER FRIENDLY AREA AHEAD
in other news we're getting very excited to meet kitty tomorrow. stone face has had some sad news and she needs furry love. lots of it. we're also going to do our favorite thing tomorrow, go pet store hunting. when we got princess we spent hours and went to three stores to find the purrfect kitty scratching post. note that when we shop for ourselves it takes about 20 minutes and then we go get lunch. last time we almost got the kitty couch, and we really wanted the kitty oak tree (a carpet mock up of an oak tree for your home, it was fascinating).
we might even get people furniture. target is open, probably crazy, but it's still exciting. but i can't figure out where it is. the target website doesn't tell me where it is, but if i ask enough customers i should figure it out.

all of the regulars like my haircut. including one seriously creepy guy whom i would rather did not notice small changes in my appearance. also the penny guy is now my new best friend. he walks all over town and i've seen him a few times and waved. today i met him on the street and he was worried that i was out sick because i was on my lunch break. cute old people are fun. this is definitely the sort of job where you meet alot of locals. i saw twice as many people at the store, but they were all tourists, or artists.
speaking of tourist season, the onslaught of out of staters has begun. i know this because a very fancy suv from mass. containing a perfect suburbia family (their two daughters even had matching shirts on, with no coats) parked in front of the bank today. what they can possibily be doing with their time is anyone's guess. now i didn't actually see the plate, but children that are dressed to match and seem to think that spring begins in march are indicators of awayness. i've also witnessed a few coa students defy death by oncoming folks from connecicut. what is with connecticut? these kids were in crosswalks and had to hurl themselves into a row of bushes. i can't wait for the start of the season.

since there were like real bank people here i couldn't do my usual things like read every blog on earth and post about kitties or apartments. one minute they were really nice, and then the next it was like "mary, is it the usual practice to blah blah blah" it was ouchy. the irony is that last night there was this thing i didn't want to do and i said "so if we get audited tomorrow and i don't do this we'll be in trouble" thankfully i did it. they're gone now and mary went out to smoke a pck of cigarettes. because i don't smoke i had to have another donut to calm my nerves. mary was shaking this morning, it was scary.
moving on...my mother is trying to bribe us into coming home on sunday with cake. to my mom, cake, especially fancy expensive cake, is the only real currency. it's the only thing worth living for. the day she called to tell me she broke her rib she started out with ten minute discussion about the 5 cakes she ordered for my sisters' baby shower. the day of the baby shower, she told me the cakes were great and she couldn't remember most of what my sister received as gifts because she was busy with the cakes. at my graduation, she bought cakes to take into two different restaurants, on two different days. do we all remember the graduation cakes?
my mom who loves me, would like us to come back from maryland on sunday and stay the night in exhange for a cake. although i deny the effectiveness of the cake bribe, maybe we could leave sunday afternoon. my mom also has great hopes that i will move all of my belongings to the new apartment. it's going to take a lot of cakes to make that happen. but i do have a lot of things to take north with me, and a 13 hour day plus a cake stop at my house is going to be trying.
speaking of movign belongings...sarah i still have your tv & vcr. my question to you is, what should i do with them. should i bring them up here, or would you and tracy like to go have cake at my house and pick them up? you can think about that too and let me know. i'm sure you want them...

they're going to put a hold on sally for me, until saturday and then we can talk about possibly boarding. annie is concerned that i would leave her in salsbury cove alone, but i'll keep her in hulls cove and see if i can break my lease. we did discuss my having a very nice kitty that might live with me someday, she doesn't have to know that this isn't the same kitty. i'll just cover the couch with some sheets, she may even be declawed i'm not sure. ooooh, i'm excited.

oh my, i've found my own princess. i emailed the people at the shelter but i just realized we're leaving on vacation next week and if i adopted her now i'd have to leave her and she'd hate me forever. but she's so pretty...
tonight tia and i have to go to ellsworth for bounce protection training. essentially this means that the thing that mary explained really well 3 weeks ago, and the thing that mikey explained really well two weeks ago, and the thing that bob explained really well last week, will be explained again by someone new. i heart business. considering the problems some other banks had, like accidentally giving folks 600 dollars (ooops) is something worth avoiding. and i will get paid for my mileage and over time. i guess i'm just cranky about not getting to play with my new apartment. mr. landlord is supposed to bring the keys today. i am going to bring annie by this afternoon and hold up her jaw as she sees it's dimensions. but it has two bathrooms! as long as you can get really excited about that you can deny that the rest of the apartment is so tiny. atleast in a deluded sort of way.
i'm thinking of it the same way that the japanese koi judges judged fish, according to dick. they don't count the bad points against the fish, they only judge based on the good points. i think this is a great philosophy. apply this philosophy to my hair and you get the good points: it's still curly, it's real, it's curly, it's clean, and then you can overlook things such as it's resemlance to joanie or rizzo from grease.

i just don't see how tnt can call men in black a drama. does anyone see that connection?
jonathan would be the poor soul i confused with russ. the lotr chatter was just so in character. however, it's a very enjoyable blog and i recommend to sarah. i can dig the lotr trilogy, but the hobbit just makes me think of that book cart with the 30 year old paperbacks that they used to wheel between english classes. anyway i think i must have linked from pinky and got confused.
annie's daddy said there's nothing wrong with the car. and then we took my car to maryland. unless we get hers a clean bill of health.
this afternoon at the bank we heard sirens, a very rare occurence, and we all went to be nosy and they stopped right in front of the bank. two cop cars and an ambulance. apparently a woman tripped and was bleeding on the sidewalk. we think the town officials are practicing for the summer...

i just rented the worlds smallest apartment. for a blessed amount of $450 a month. it's really very small. 2nd floor. it has two bathrooms and two doors. it's weird. and yet so cheap. it's a whole building of single women, and they're going to get rid of all the trailers next month. he said that those tennants are leaving at the end of the month. oooh and i can have a kitty. and a hamster. it needs a lot of art, and a lot of furniture. oooh it's so cheap! and as long as no one notices how long term my guests are i can have them.

so i saw the apartment of the lady who accidentally stood me up. she called yesterday and was very embarrassed that she forgot our meeting. she's a nice lady and the apartment was quite nice too and she's flexible on the payment. which is good and yet means i'll be paying off another thing forever. well i haven't actually accepted it yet, i'm going to see the cheap ass hovel tomorrow. i'm trying to decide if it can be turned into a 2 person house somehow. it does have a big closet, she said it could be a 1 1/2 bedroom if you counted the closet. hmm. we'll see about the efficiency tomorrow. i have to stop thinking of it as a hovel because i might be living there.
it's just so exciting to think i might live in a place i could walk to town from and do my laundry at. she also said she heard the laundrymats might be turning into condos and a garage. how much would that suck.

just so you all know, i am a banking genius. i have opened five new accounts this week, all of which are strive for fives. for all of you who don't happen to be employees at my bank or annie, this is a good thing which means we are getting closer to our bonus goals. bonus goals, apparently, are the things we have to do to get bonuses equalling up to 10% of our pay. i am psyched because the more valuable things i do the less likely i'll be fired if i screw up. i hope. silly at will employment. on the downside tia did not get her transfer to ellsworth, and will have to stick it out driving to bar harbor every day all summer. gee, i wonder what that's like? if she complains too much she might end up loose coinage embedded in her skull.
*(be it known that the commute from ellsworth to BH is 1/2 hour and my former commute from Deer Isle to Bar Harbor was 1 1/2 hours, but i didn't complain, and to show you how vehemently i did not complain i'm complaining right now for your further information)

so err the lady didn't come to meet me. and i also sort of talked myself out of it because i really can't afford to move there just now. ofcourse it'll all be 900 a month for one room soon so maybe i should suck it up. i drove by the efficiencies. it's sort of a hovel. but a cheap hovel. my appt isn't until sunday, i will very seriously consider the hovel because it's so cheap. i'll get a dead bolt, it'll be fine. i just saw annie drive by. it's weird living in such a small town.
i'm sort of excited about the hovel. it's only two small rooms, but it has two bathrooms becuase it used to be a motel. i could even afford a futon with all the money saving there would be. i'm getting sort of frantic about this apartment. i want it bad. do we think i am just generally frantic. possibly. maybe.

graham from but i'm a cheerleader was on buffy this morning. how unexpected.
my sister discovered last night that she can send me messages and call me from dad's cell phone. they gave it to her, a because my dad doesn't ever use the phone in any capacity, and b so she can call them asap with baby info. the baby isn't due till april, but whatever. mean while she called my cell four times last night and sent me the message "you stink". i was thinking that she was mad at me, but not if she bothered to call me four times. it must be love.
i had this weird dream last night about hood. i dreamed that one of my boxes was really heavy and security said "what, do you have a body in there" and for some reason i did and we all had to pretend to laugh and not look guilty. is it a bad sign to dream that you have dead bodies from college. is that like a message or something.
i've found yet another way to make my computer find pictures on my camera. i'm so tricky. actually i'm a computer genius. i can't help it. some people just have certains gifts. what i do not understand, what is not part of my gift, is why after a few weeks of normal picture removal something happens that causes computer to stop recongizing the pictures. it just gets tired or hormonal or something and tells me to eat it. i'm tired of it. now instead of the beautifully simple program that popped up when i first installed the camera...i have to go to search, pictures, external drive e. i suppose i should be glad my expensive camera isn't worthless...but i long to know what the deal is.

why i hate walmart
as if there weren't enough reasons to hate walmart, they just started a new policy regarding returns and exchanges. let me tell you all about it. the new policy is they have to exchange your item with an item in the same condition. now odds on the girl behind the desk didn't see the irony of this statement. the reason one returns or exchanges something is because the condition of the item is unsatisfactory, right. case in point: i bought happy texas the dvd, because it's funny and it was five dollars. while stone face and i were enjoying the movie it went all weird indicating the unsatisfactory condition for which i later returned it. so there are no problems actually returning it, she didn't even ask me to tell her what was wrong with it, she just said go get a new one. then she starts to open it. and i say "err why do you have to open it?" it's the new policy yadda yadda yadda. i think about this as she uses her fingernails, like four fingers at a time, to scrape the security sticker off. i probably should have asked for the manager at that point, but instead i just made her switch the new disc into the old unmangled case. why god, why?
the thing that really bothers me about walmart is that they don't have to be fair, or rational, or have any of the skills that other retailers need because they put all of their competition out of business.
in other news my mother broke her own rib the other day. she hit herself with her hand and fractured a rib. isn't that wild? poor mommy. she's overcome with excitement that we are going to be stopping by my house for a night. i don't think she realizes what a short time we'll be there.

so my boyfriend didn't win. but he was there and it was exciting. i couldn't stay up for all of the oscars, but i did see lotr win a million times. and all the geeky art guys make nervous speeches. and rene zellwegger winning was very cute. stone face is feeling a little better. her mother nicknamed her typhoid annie as she's always sick. hehe.
i sent my sister the worlds cutest baby gift. the one i bought is even cuter than the picture, but it's the general idea. let's hope she likes it.
it's a beautiful springy day and i'm contemplating my landlady's desire to sell the house. no more september. wrut wroe. and then i was homeless...
